- Unveiled in 1999, the IWC GST Deep One earned its place in history as the first wristwatch to integrate mechanical depth gauge, maximum depth display, and rotating bezel into a single, cohesive design. Among the most coveted of IWC collectibles, it broke new ground within the innovative GST sports line. - Through pioneering inclusion of a Bourdon tube engineered by master watchmaker Richard Habring, water pressure actuates the coil to precisely measure depth, shown via a white arrow hand alongside a marker indicating maximum safe diving limits. Resetting to zero via a 4 o’clock crown, it provided vital information to divers’ missions. - Scarcely produced due to immense craft, fewer than 1,000 are said to have been completed. The example presented here has survived remarkably intact, preserving in excellent condition through sensible use. Accompanied by its full set of accessories, it offers the opportunity to own an iconic milestone in mechanical watchmaking - one that expanded boundaries of what could be achieved on the wrist beneath the waves.
